Wisconsin attorneys fees depend on the complexity of the case, the legal issues, the attorneys involved, and the personalities and needs of the parties. In previous posts, I have written about steps that you, as a client, can take to decrease your attorney fees. However, as your family law attorney, I also strive to ensure reasonable attorney fees while delivering the same effective representation.
Kowalski, Wilson & Vang, LLC’s mission statement is to “provide the highest quality legal service, in a style most convenient and cost-effective for you, to achieve your goals. I meet this standard through personal attention to detail, multiple fee structures, and a wide variety of communication options for clients.” I want to first explain how I use technology to control legal fees and increase your convenience.
The most significant portion of Wisconsin attorney fees is the cost for hourly work. However, other added costs such as “materials,” “file,” or “administrative” fees, copies, fax fees, etc. quickly add up. Over the course of a case, these costs will likely total several hundred dollars. I believe that many of these costs can be greatly reduced by careful use of technology. I have structured Kowalski, Wilson & Vang, LLC to take advantage of great advances in law firm technology that allow me to control fees.
Kowalski, Wilson & Vang, LLC provides clients with a secure web portal, known as Mycase. Each client has secure, individual access to the Mycase portal. All case documents, emails, letters, court filings, notes, and calendar are available to you in the same form as to your lawyer. Clients can download and comment on documents, post messages, receive updates, and review all case information anytime they like. Apart from the convenience, the program virtually eliminates the cost for copies, faxes, file fees, etc. Because the firm does not charge clients for the Mycase service, it results in a significant savings in legal fees.
The Mycase program also provides secure file storage. Therefore, while certain information is maintained in paper form, much of the case file is maintained in electronic form. Electronic storage is backed up in several ways to ensure security. Electronic storage also significantly decreases the need for copies, paper files, and other administrative costs. These savings are passed on to you, the client.
I put a great deal of effort into the firm’s structure and mission statement, and I take them seriously. In this way, I am able to provide the best legal service possible for reasonable cost.
